Louise C. Ponder

Asheville – Connie Louise Cox Ponder, 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Brookdale Assisted Living.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired as a Beautician, and was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ponder was a daughter of the late Harley Bascombe Cox and Mary Ramsey Cox, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Zade Ernest Ponder who passed away in 2011.

Surviving are her daughters: Sharon Hawkins and husband Robert, and Sheila Burrell and husband Randy, all of Leicester; grandchildren: Alicia Rice and husband Michael, Amanda Rhyne and husband Jonathon, Anthony Hawkins and wife Danielle, Heath Burrell and wife Brittany, and Heather Ball and husband Aaron; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Rena Cantrell of Leicester, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Union Baptist Church, with her sons-in-law: Rev. Robert Hawkins and Rev. Randy Burrell officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, and flower bearers will be her granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 10 till 11 am on Friday at the church.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living for all their care and support given to their mom and family.
