Louella Bagwell Corn

January 2, 1907 — May 14, 2003

Asheville - Louella Bagwell Corn, 96, of Asheville died Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Aston Park Health Care Center following a period of declining health. A native of Spartanburg, S.C. She had resided in Asheville for most of her life. Mrs. Corn retired from Memorial Mission Hospital where she served as an operating room technician, was formerly employed with Belks for many years and was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Jenkins Bagwell and Fannie Jones Brown Bagwell and the wife of the late Joseph Peter Corn who died April 17, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Bagwell Corn who died February 28, 2003 and all her brothers and sisters. Surviving are son, Joseph Harold Corn and wife, Juanita of Asheville; daughter in law, Elizabeth Corn of Union Mills; 4 grandchildren,4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Clark E. Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Mountain Cemetery with Deacons of Newbridge Baptist Church serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Harold and Juanita Corn, 103 North Ridge Drive, Apt. # B, Asheville.
