Asheville - Lorin Percival L.P. Grant, 76, of 91 Victoria Road died Monday, February 18, 2002 at the Blue Ridge Health Care Center. A native of Swain County. He had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He retired in 1988 from Memorial Mission Hospital following 22 years of service where he was employed in the Housekeeping Department. Mr. Grant also worked part time as a Greeter and in the garden department at Wal-Mart. He loved children and enjoyed spending time with them. He was the son of the late Orville Monroe Grant and Gracie Rowena Mae Sherrill Grant and was also preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Grant in 1938. Surviving are his sisters, Ruby Mae Crook of Asheville and Shirley Ann Chitwood of Denton; several neices and nephews including, Daniel Edward Crook, Raymond Crook, Emily Williamson and Debra Clement; several great nieces and nephews and special friends Thelma Connard, Donny Connard and their children, Shane and Shannon all of Gastonia. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. T.A. Holder, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael and David Williamson, Joseph Clement, Patrick Flynn, Raymond Lee Crook, Sr. and Raymond Lee Crook, Jr. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
