Fletcher - Lorenzo Carl Lonnie Taylor, 76, of 39 Golden Oaks Lane, died Tuesday October 9, 2001 at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Sunburst Community in Haywood County, he had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He retired in 1991 from American Enka Corporation after 44 years of service. Mr. Taylor was a member, deacon, layreader and served on the Vestry Committee of Trinity Episcopal Church, served on the Board of the W.N.C. Ministry for the Deaf, served as chairman on the Asheville Regional Resource Center, former Treasurer of the W.N.C. Episcopal Conference for the Deaf and was a volunteer teacher of sign language at A-B Tech and Blue Ridge Community College. Mr. Taylor was a son of the late Clingman Alex and Lydia Haskett Taylor. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Edward and James Taylor. Surviving are his wife of 49 years of marriage, Ruby Anders Taylor of the home; daughter, Brenda T. Holt and husband, Charles of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Carl L. Taylor of Fletcher; grandsons, Jonathan and Wesley Holt, William and McLaurin Taylor; step-grandchildren, Stan and Blair Chamberlain; brothers, Willie Taylor of Portland, OR, John Taylor of Arden and Jake Taylor of Hendersonville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rt. Rev. Robert H. Johnson, Bishop of Dioces of W.N.C., Rev. John Rivers, Interim Minister for the Deaf of W.N.C. and Mr. Dale Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: W.N.C.
