Lorene Malone Erwin

Candler Lorene Irene Malone Erwin, 86, of 95 Holcombe Cove Road, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center following a period of declining health. Mrs. Erwin grew up in Abington, VA where she resided until moving to North Carolina 55 years ago. She was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and retired in the 1980s from the Vanderbilt Shirt Co., as a seamstress. Mrs. Erwin was the widow of Warren Calvin Erwin, who passed away in 1964. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Farris. Surviving are her daughter, Tesla Hood of Asheville; two sons: Lloyd Robinson of Asheville and Gary Wayne Erwin and wife Annette of Candler; six granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including her niece, Bettie Hansen and her family of Hendersonville. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
