Lloyd "L.J." Grooms

Fairview - Lloyd Roosevelt L.J. Grooms, Jr., 77, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Haywood County to the late Lloyd Roosevelt and Hazel Trull Grooms, L.J. had resided in Buncombe County since 1975. He was a true mountain man that was proud of his Native American heritage, and who loved fishing, ginseng hunting, and gardening. L.J. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be deeply missed. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Flossie Sue Grooms; children: Karl Grooms and wife Kena, Leroy Grooms and wife Beth, and Sylvia Grooms; grandchildren: Katelyn, Kye, Karissa, Brent, Seth, Ethan, and Brian; great-granddaughter, Zoey; sisters: Diana Cagle and Letha Ann Grooms; brother, Eddie Grooms; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the Grooms family.
