Linda Ann Reese

Asheville NC – Linda Ann Reese (Grant) passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on March 6, 1949, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Joseph Cecil Grant and Doris Minyard Grant. Linda spent most of her life serving others, both in her professional and personal life.

Linda worked as an accountant for the Buncombe County government for over 20 years. She was a dedicated and hardworking colleague to many and served as a trusted mentor to others. Her expertise and tireless work ethic were greatly valued by all who had the pleasure of working with her.

Outside of work, Linda was a loving wife and mother. She was married to William James Reese for 41 years before his passing. Together, they raised two children, Christopher Reese and Kimberly Carpenter, who will miss her dearly.

In her free time, Linda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, shopping, listening to oldies, and attending services at Grassy Branch Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering dedication, and her infectious laugh.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Cecil Grant and Doris Grant; husband, William James Reese; and brother, Joseph Cecil (J.C.) Grant Jr.

Linda is survived by her children: Christopher Reese, and Kimberly Carpenter (Justin); sisters: Joyce Robinson, and Tricia Shriner; grandchildren: Gavin Reese, Gunnar Reese, Ashley Duncan (Brandon), Emory Carpenter, and Ciera Sweitzer (Patrick); and great-grandchildren: Braylin Duncan, Liam Duncan, and Everlee (Evie) Duncan.

A memorial service for Linda will be held Friday April 12, 2024 at 2pm in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home, the family will receive friends one hour prior.

Linda’s presence in the world will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched throughout her years of service. May she rest in peace.
