Asheville - Lillie Martha Poole Myrick who was born September 15, 1907 died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at the Sales Health Care Center of Givens Estate. Mrs. Myrick was the seventh of nine children of the late Annie Moriah Mahaley and Milas James Poole formerly of East Spencer, Rowan County, N.C. and was the wife of Carlie A. Myrick who died in 1971. Mrs. Myrick moved to Asheville in October, 1985 and lived at the Battery Park Apartments until October, 2001 when she moved to the Givens Estate Retirement Community. While in Rowan County, she was a dedicated member of the Long Street United Methodist Church. She was honored with a Life Membership in the United Methodist Women of the church and served on the Official Board and various committees of the church. Mrs. Myrick served as President of the East Spencer Home Demonstration Club and was a member of the Civitan Club. For several years she was lunch room manager at East Spencer School. After moving to Asheville she was a member of Central United Methodist Church and later at St. Pauls United Methodist where she especially enjoyed her friends in the Sunday School and the Funday group. Mrs. Myrick was a mother of three children, the late Annie Myrick Lyerly formerly of Charlotte, Carlie A. Myrick, Jr. of Mims, Florida and Cecil K. Myrick and wife, Ellen, now living in Lake Junaluska. She leaves three granddaughters, four grandsons, three great granddaughters and one great grandson. Her graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Harry L. Watwood, III, Pastor of the St. Pauls United Methodist Church, at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chestnut Hills Cemetery in Salisbury. Her family in this area will be glad to greet friends at Anders-Rice Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
