Leota Stroud

Asheville - Leota Blankenship Stroud passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at the WNC Baptist Retirement Home, one month shy of her 102nd birthday. Born October 9, 1914 in Graham County, Mrs. Stroud had retired from American Enka following 30 years of service, and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Mrs. Stroud was the daughter of the late James Barnet and Arvie Priscilla Garland Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Stroud, and son, James Lyle Stroud. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Brenda Stroud of Asheville; grandson, Mark Wayland Stroud (Carly) and great-grandson, Endler James Stroud, all of Durango, CO; and several nieces and nephews, including her niece Clair Catts (John) of Erwin, TN. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 17 in Pisgah View Memorial Park, with Pastor John Catts officiating. Memorial donations may be made to West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Strouds family.
