Asheville Lelan Barrett Poppy, II, 62, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Ligonier, IN, he had resided in Asheville since 1992 and retired in 2010 from Tyco Industries where he was employed for over 20 years. Mr. Poppy was a former Scout Leader - Troop #138, was Wood Badge Fox and served on the Snowshoe Council for 10 years, was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served in the National Guard Reserves. Mr. Poppy was the son of the late Lelan Barrett Poppy and Katherine Louise Vance Poppy. Surviving are his wife whom he married October 14, 1983, Antonette Lee Toni Poppy of the home; children, Lelan Poppy, III, Heather Nicole Poppy, Dustin Aaron Poppy, Benjamin Jacob Poppy; step children, Sean G. Gumbert and Neely R. Bultimeier; sisters, Elizabeth Burnside and Rebecca Gardner; step mother, Betty Poppy; step sister, Angela Hallstrom; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Seaman officiating.
