BREVARD - LEATHA BELLE PARHAM MARTIN, 88, DIED SUNDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2001 AT IVY HILL NURSING HOME. A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY HAVING MOVED TO BREVARD IN 1996. SHE RETIRED FROM BILTMORE INDUSTRIES AFTER 48 YEARS OF SERVICE WHERE SHE WAS A TOUR GUIDE AND IN HER LATTER YEARS WORKED IN THE MUSEUM. SHE WAS A MEMBER OF MT. CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH AND WAS A FORMER MEMBER OF ELK MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH , WOODFIN WHERE SHE SERVED AS PIANIST. MRS. MARTIN WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE HENRY BRADLEY AND CARRIE LEE RHYMER PARHAM AND WIFE OF THE LATE KYLE LOCKE MARTIN WHO DIED SEPTEMBER 1982. SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER SISTERS, MARIE MESSER, JOSEPHINE JONES AND BONNIE P. HENDERSON AND HER BROTHERS, JAMES AND HOWARD PARHAM. SURVIVING ARE HER SISTERS, BESSIE FOX OF HENDERSONVILLE AND HAZEL FORE OF FLETCHER; BROTHER, RICHARD C. PARHAM OF ASHEVILLE AND SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS. GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 2:30 P.M. WEDNESDAY AT PISGAH VIEW MEMORIAL PARK WITH THE REV. DR. RONNIE OWEN OFFICIATING. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 8:30 P.M. TUESDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO MT.
