Lawrence Pittman

West Asheville- Lawrence Pittman, 74, of 74 Salola Street, died Friday July 26, 2002 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Mitchell County, NC. He had resided in Flint, Michigan prior to moving to Asheville in 1984. He was retired from General Motors after 28 years of service and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Pittman was a son of the late Champ and Dailey Van Dolley McKinney Pittman. Surviving are his wife, Alta Gillespie Pittman of the home; sons, Charles Gillespie of Salisbury, NC, Melvin C. Pittman and Lawrence Pittman, Jr. both of Tuscola, MI and Michael D. Pittman of West Asheville; daughter, Ethel L. Pittman of Marion; sister, Lillian Hyatt of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Dion Pittman, Stacy Pittman, Tracy Leone, Daisey Pittman, Amanda Howard, Stephanie Gillespie, Travis Gillespie and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
