Laura Kay Vincent Plemmons passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Mission Memorial Hospital.
Laura was born on June 15, 1936 in Walworth, Wisconsin a daughter of the late Col. Arthur K. Vincent U.S. Army Ret. and Isabel G. Boettcher Vincent. She graduated from Matthew Whaley High School in Williamsburg, Virginia and went on to graduate from the University of Mary Washington.
Laura was a dedicated and beloved wife and homemaker, married to her late husband Kenneth K. Plemmons for over 60 years. She was a Leicester, NC resident for over 27 years. Prior to moving to Leicester she taught science at Benjamin Sims Jr. High School in Hampton, Virginia. She enjoyed reading, cooking, canning vegetables from her garden and bird watching from her Doggett mountain home. She loved nature and animals and had many pets over the years including cats, dogs, and rabbits. She and her husband were members of Spring Creek United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth William Plemmons; her step-mother, Maj. Estella Rand Vincent U.S. Army Ret.; and her beloved sister, Mary Alice Vincent Abowd.
She is survived by her nephews: George, Edward, Timothy , James and Michael Abowd.
The family would like to thank Laura's longtime caregivers Mike and Deborah Neal, her close friend Virgina Laubinger, and the doctors and nurses at Mission Memorial Hospital.
