Laura Jean Caldwell

Asheville Laura Jean Caldwell, 82, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her residence. A native of Greenville, SC, Mrs. Caldwell had resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She worked for over 20 years as a Greeter at Wal-Mart, and was a member of Deaverview Baptist Church. Mrs. Caldwell was the daughter of the late Ted and Amalee McDevitt Allen, and was the wife of the late Thomas Caldwell, who passed away February 27, 1989. Surviving are her son, Ron Caldwell of Asheville; sister, Catherine Haygood of Richmond, VA; sisters-in-law: Betty A. Bearse of Asheville and Pat C. Gahagan of Leicester; and brothers-in-law: Bill Caldwell of Ridgecrest, Bob Caldwell of Asheville, Donald Caldwell and Jerry Caldwell, both of Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 17, 2012 at Deaverview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stacy Hightower officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 PM Monday at the church.
