Asheville – Launia Sluder Woody, 100, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Brian Center of Weaverville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from Burlington Industries and attended Leicester Baptist Church. Mrs. Woody was the daughter of the late McKinley Griffin and Lena Sluder White and was raised her aunt, the late Bertie Sluder Haney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Woody who died in 2002; sons, Bobby Sluder and his wife, Sandra, and Leon Sluder; and daughter-in-law, Linda Sluder. Surviving are her children, Sharon Williams (Randy) who took care of her, Theresa Baker (Ron), Joyce Jonas (Don), and Everette Sluder all of Asheville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces & nephews; half brother, Bill Griffin (Margaret) of Leicester and best friend, Hilda Caldwell of Asheville. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 27, 2021 at Mountain View FW Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Chad Ellege officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Brian Center of Weaverville for their love and respect shown to our mother and our family.
