Larry Shelton West

Asheville - Larry Shelton West, 57, of 5 Andieange Circle, passed away Monday, April 25, 2005 at the VA Medical center. A native of Pine Bluff, AR, he had resided for the past 2 1/2 years in Buncombe County. He was an electrician and a member of The Ark of Faith Church in Monticello, AR. He served his country from 1967-1970 in the US Army Signal Corps. He was the son of the late Carl and Mildred Beard West. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Carlene Jarrett, Betty Harlow, and Rece Phillips. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Dukes West of the home; his daughter, Stephanie Hamlin of Asheville; his two sons: Raymond West and wife Leah of Warren, AR, and David West of Strafford, MO; three sisters: Faye Owens and husband Robert of Wilmar, AR, Janie Nicholson and husband Wayne of Monticello, AR; and Laura Ferguson and husband Mark of Hermitage, AR; two brothers: Donald West and wife Tina of Shickshinney, PA and Robert West of Wilmar, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
