Lance Sr. Freeman

Pickens, SC Lance Edward Freeman, Sr., 71, of Pickens, SC, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. A native of Swain County, he had resided in Buncombe County for 14 years before moving to Andrews, NC, and finally to Pickens. He was a retired Baptist minister, and had a passion for gardening. Mr. Freeman was the son of the late Lawrence Lee and Eva Mashburn Freeman, and was the husband of Irma Jean Hill Freeman, who passed away in 2003. He was also preceded in death by 10 siblings. Surviving are his children: Lance Edward Eddie Freeman, Jr. and Regina Freeman, both of Andrews; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Imogene Gilstrap and husband Marion of Pickens; brother, Lon Freeman and wife Ruth of Bryson City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery.
