Kitty Taylor

Fairview Sarah Catherine Kitty VanPelt Taylor, 89, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Broadway, Virginia, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1955. She retired in 1991 as an Executive Secretary to the Vocational Dept Buncombe County School System and was formerly employed with C.P. Clare Company. She was a member of First Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #38, the Fairview Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary, the Sunshine Girls and was a former PTA President of the A.C. Reynolds High School and Fairview Elementary. Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late George Theodore VanPelt and Emma Florence Hill VanPelt and wife of William Harvey Taylor, Sr. who died in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Surviving are her children, Willerine Taylor Russell and husband William of Havlock, William Twig Taylor, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Savannah, GA and Wona Taylor Malo and husband Lenny of Fairview; grandchildren, Brian Russell, Kristen Russell Jimenez, Tonya Bass and Lacie Malo; great grandchildren, Hollie Russell, Christian Bass, Noah Malo and Sophia Jimenez; several nieces and nephews, including her niece Linda Fuller, with whom she made her home with Kitty. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Gene King officiating. Burial will follow in Cane Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
