Kay Vivian Rice

Weaverville - Kay Vivian Rice, 56, of 41 Nola Drive, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2006 at her home following a period of declining health. A native of Lansing, MI, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1981. She had owned and operated her own beauty salon for most of her career, and had most recently been employed with Ingles at Woodland Hills. Kay was the daughter of the late Orville and Josephine Nostrant Ray. Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Frank Rice, Jr., of the home; sons: Brian Freelan and wife Christina of Weaverville and Eugene Rice and wife Paige of Charlotte; grandchildren: Payton Rice, Jaden Rice and Mason Freelan; and brother, William Ray and wife Susie of Ocalla, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
