Kathryn Crabtree Penland

Asheville - Kathryn Ruth Crabtree Penland, 66, died Wednesday October 9, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She had retired from the American Enka Crop. and was a member of Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church in Candler for over 30 years. She was a daughter of the late Elvia and Ruth Swann Crabtree. Surviving are her daughter, Kathey Y. Penland of Aurora, CO; sons, Earl Christopher Penland and wife, Linda of Black Mountain and Rev. Terry Wayne Penland and wife, Amy of Canton; sister, Virginia Corn of Arden; brother, Alan Crabtree of Greenville SC; grandchildren, Andrew Daniel Penland and Hannah Ruth Penland both of Canton and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Luther officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of her son, Rev. Terry Penland, 149 Newfound Street, Canton.
