Kathleen Louise Rains

Kathleen Louise Rains, 86, formerly of Riceville Road, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at her home. A native and resident of Buncombe County she was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, and previous member for 27 years of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a cosmetologist and bookkeeper for Harold Vaughn, and Sales Associate at the Asheville Mall. Mrs. Rains was the daughter of the late Grant Cochran James and Vera Beatrice Whiteside James. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard G. Buddy James, and sister, Evelyn Radcliff. Surviving are her, husband of 70 years, Everett Rains, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Dockery officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, December 23, 2013, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, 283 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.
