Katheryne S. Scarborough

Asheville - Robbie Katheryne Sprouse Scarborough, 81, of 71 West Street went to be with Jesus Monday, October 1, 2001. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Althea Elizabeth Hall Sprouse and wife of Hubert Leondus Scarborough who died February 15, 1973. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dan Scarborough, formerly of Candler. Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Hutchins and Louise Bessinger both of Charlotte and Rita Norman of Arden; sons, Ronnie Scarborough and Mike Scarborough both of Asheville and Tommy Scarborough of Hickory; sisters, Margaret Whiteside and Marjorie Harwood both of Asheville; brother, Robert Sprouse of Greenville, SC; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Lomax officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
