Katherine D. Batten

Swannanoa - Katherine Davis Batten, 93, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 10, 2017, at her home. She was born in Fayetteville, NC on July 2, 1923, to Frank H. and Belle B. Davis. She lived in Asheville since 1974 and was an active member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years. She loved the Lord with all her heart and had a great love for her family and church family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Alpheus Batten, who died in 1999, and brothers, Leon, Charles, Hervey, and Robert Davis and sister, Doris Tosha. Surviving are her son, Jim Batten (Martha) of Asheville; daughter, Pat Carnahan (Bob) of Asheville; sister, Alice Edwards (Willie) of Florida; grandchildren, Yvonne Fall, Bryan Batten, Michael Carnahan (Ginger), Jeff Carnahan (Samantha), Cheryl Chambers (Mark); and 8 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Prettyman officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
