Kate Rice Keever

Asheville - Kate Rice Keever, 91, 0f 98 School Road, Oakley, died Monday September 30, 2002 at Emerald Ridge Care Center. She was born on September 18, 1911 in Madison County but was a resident of Buncombe County. She was a member of Oakley Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Woodard and Lodusky Anders Rice and wife of the late Charlie Keever. She was also preceded in death by son, Edward Keever and son-in-law, Donald Searcy. She is survived by her daughter, Mozelle Searcy of Fletcher; son, Bobby Joe Keever and wife, Joyce of Candler; sisters, Dorothy Hall and Cartie Rathburn; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Les Schofield and Greg Metcalf officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oakley. Pallbearers will be Bobby Jr., Mark and Bradley Keever, Gene Moore, Darren Hill and Tony Ayers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
