Junior Dover

Asheville – Harrison Junior Dover, 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at his residence. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a Scales Technician for Braswell Scale & Equipment Company, and formerly worked with Erwin Hills Hardware and Biltmore Hardware. He was a former member of West Buncombe Fire Department where he served as a Lieutenant, was formerly very active in Erwin Youth League where he served as a Coach and Umpire, was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church and was a US Navy Korean War Veteran. Mr. Dover was the son of the late Lester Roy Candler and Grace Layler Dover, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Dover and son-in-law, Richard Swann. Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Barbara “Bitsy” Dover of the home; daughters, Grace Fisher (Gary), Barbara Swann and Michelle Meadows (Michael) all of Asheville; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, September 26, 2021 at New Liberty Baptist Church, with Rev. Garry Rogers and Rev. Danny Little officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday at the church.
