June E. Rice

Asheville – June Elizabeth Worley Rice, 86, of 40 Gerber Road, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her residence. A native of Buncombe County, she had served for many years as a waitress and cook. Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the late Earl Bascombe Worley and Flora Louise Jenkins Worley and wife of the late Ted Eugene Rice and the late Hugh Theodore Rice. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Worley. Surviving are her children, Phillip Gene Rice (Donna) of Sanford, Gary Robert Rice (Marilyn) of Union Mills and Patti Ann Paris (Mike) of Mills River; grandsons, Taren Edward Tyler and Brad Rice; step grandchildren, Michael, Katie, Frank and Johnny, Haley, Heath, Hunter and Melissa and several great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Worley of Enka, Ronald Worley (Pauline) of Swannanoa and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Friday, April 9, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Daryl Overton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home.
