Candler – Judy Ann Freese Van Eyk, 80, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center following a massive stroke. A native of Bryan, OH, she had resided in Buncombe County since August of 1981. She was a Register Nurse, having served as an operating room nurse, school nurse at Mt. Pisgah Academy and in family practices. She was an animal lover, was a rockhound, and her favorite past time was walking the beach of Sedar Bay, MI, hunting for agates. She was a member of Foster SDA Church and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and adored her grandchildren. Mrs. Van Eyk was a daughter of the late Harry Donald Freese and Frances Leola Parker Freese and wife for 54 years of marriage to the late Wayne Dale Van Eyk who passed away August 30, 2017. Surviving are her children, LeeAnn Van Eyk-Smith (Steven) of Candler, John Mark Van Eyk (Kellie) of Ft. Defiance, AR, and AnnJanette Van Eyk Moreno (David) of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Anna-Kierstin Smith, Brooke Van Eyk, Josie Van Eyk, Brycen Van Eyk, Chayce Moreno and Noah Moreno; sister, Linda Grow (George) of Candler and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
