JUANITA RICE GRANAT, 74, OF 74 SLEEPY HOLLOW DRIVE DIED SUNDAY OCTOBER 8, 2000 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF MADISON COUNTY, SHE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY MOST OF HER LIFE. SHE RETIRED FROM AMERICAN ENKA CORP. AFTER MANY YEARS OF SERVICE. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE THOMAS H. AND DORA COATES RICE AND WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY 2 BROTHERS, WILLARD AND BERNARD RICE AND A SISTER, EVELYN SANTORO. SURVIVING ARE HER HUSBAND OF 55 1/2 YEARS, JOSEPH GRANAT OF THE HOME; DAUGHTER, BARBARA SNEED OF BLACK MOUNTAIN; MAX BUDDY SNEED OF MARION; GRANDDAUGHTER, COLLEEN SNEED OF BLACK MOUNTAIN; TWIN SISTER, GENEVA CLARK OF ASHEVILLE; 1 NIECE AND SEVERAL NEPHEWS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:30 P.M. WEDNESDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH PASTOR GREG TAYLOR OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN FOREST LAWN MEMORIAL PARK WITH NEPHEWS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS SERVING AS PALLBEARERS. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 8:30 P.M. TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO: FRIENDS FOR ANIMALS SHELTER, 72 LEES CREEK ROAD, ASHEVILLE, N.C. 28806.
