Juanita Ledbetter Patterson

March 18, 1921 — January 30, 2003

Woodfin - Juanita Ledbetter Patterson, 82, of 10 Revonda Drive died Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Missoula, Montana. She was raised in Henderson County and moved to Enka in 1942 where she lived most of her life. Mrs. Patterson moved to Hickory where she resided for 15 years prior to returning to Buncombe County in January of 2000. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church and a former member of Enka Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress having been formerly employed with American Enka Corp., Mills Manufacturing Co. and Hadleys. Mrs. Patterson was the daughter of the late James Isaac and Bertha Ballew Ledbetter and was the wife of French Dewitt Patterson who died April 2, 1979. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Brooks. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara Heavner and husband Barry of Hickory, Pat Pounders and husband Carter with whom she made her home and Penny Brooks of Asheville; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandsons. She was known by her her grandchildren as Nanny the Great. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.. Clarke Henderson and Rev. Carter Pounders, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Crab Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 10 Revonda Drive, Asheville.
