January 8, 1933 — March 16, 2020

Asheville – Treva Juanita Hollifield Hughes, 87, of 11 Sweetwater Drive, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Aston Park Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She graduated from Emma High School where she played basketball and worked for Eckerd’s Drug Store for over 30 Years. Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late Atlas Eugene Hollifield and Nellie Leora Bailey Hollifield and wife of James Cecil Hughes who died in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son, Walter Michael Hughes who died in 2014. Surviving are her sons, James Atlas “Sonny” Hughes & wife, Donna of Banner Elk and Phillip Hughes & wife, Beverly of Asheville; brothers, Cornelius Hollifield of Austin, TX and Eugene “Gene” Hollifield of Asheville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Friday, March 20, 2020 at Lewis Memorial Park with the Rev. Allen Rash officiating and Andrea Hughes to bring her message in music. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, WNC Chapter, 31 College Place #103, Asheville, NC 28801 www.alz.org or to the Sweetwater Youth Ranch, 155 Ramsey Road, Asheville, NC 28806 www.sweetwateryouthranch.org Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Hughes’ Family.
