Joseph Martin Bailey Sr.

Asheville - Joseph Martin Bailey, Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday February 9, 2010 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A native of Dalton, GA, he had lived in Buncombe County for the past 42 years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had played football for Middle Tennessee State College. He was a son of the late George Dennis and Lizzie Belle King Bailey and was also preceded in death by his sister Edwina Bailey. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Doris R. Bailey of the home; daughter, Michelle Bailey Goldstein and husband Alan of Tampa, FL; son, Joseph Martin Bailey, Jr. and wife Lauren of Vail CO; two grandchildren, Bryan and Rachel Goldstein and brothers, Alfred and Donald Bailey both of Dalton, GA. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. this afternoon at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lynn Webber officiating. Committal service will be held at 10:00 A.M.
