Joseph J. Adamski

June 28, 1927 — August 23, 2002

Alexander - Joseph Junior Adamski, 75, of 282 Mag Sluder Road, died Friday August 23, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Pomeroy, OH, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1964. He had retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1964 as a MSTG., retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982 and retired as a substitute teacher at Clyde A. Erwin High School in 1997. He was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, Blackmer Masonic Lodge # 170, VFW Post #891 and was past president of the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 363. Mr. Adamski was a son of the late Jozef and Grace Maude Napper Adamski. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Haney Adamski, whom he married August 2, 1947; daughters, Rita Adamski Parham of Hereford, AZ, Lynn Adamski Cattrell of Leicester and Debra Adamski Smith of Alexander; brother, Marion F. Malone of Marion, OH; nephew, Troy Thacker of Wellston, OH; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Liberty Baptist Church with Revs. Howard Self, Garry Rogers and Danny Little officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
