Joseph Cecil Grant

Swannanoa - Joseph Cecil Grant, 74, of 1339 Bee Tree Road, went to his heavenly home Friday evening November 30, 2001. He was born in Swain County but was a resident of Buncombe County for the majority of his life. He was a member and former deacon of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mr. Grant was the son of the late James Henry and Flora Johnson Grant and was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Cecil (J.C.) Grant, Jr.; brothers, Charles K. Grant and Willard V. Grant. Mr. Grant is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris M. Grant of the home: daughters, Linda Grant Reese and husband, Bill of Swannanoa, Brenda Grant Robinson and Patricia Grant Shriner of Asheville; grandchildren, Kimberly R. Carpenter, Christopher S. Reese, Jenelle A. Shriner, Loren E. Shriner, Rick Shriner, Jennifer D. Robinson, and Michael S. Robinson, Jr.; great grandchildren, Ashley D. Reese, Emory B. Carpenter and Ciera K. Carpenter; sister, Jessie G. Kirkland of Waynesville; uncle, Kermit Johnson of Bryson City and many nieces and nephews. Cecil lived his life showering love and compassion on all he met. He will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
