Joseph Baird Edwards Jr.

Asheville - Joseph Baird Edwards, Jr., 85, of 410 Silo Drive died Wednesday March 28, 2007 at Pisgah Manor after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from A-B Tech as director of personnel after 21 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a son of the late Joseph Baird Edwards, Sr. and Mary Bethany Creasman Edwards. He was the husband of the late Ethel Strong Edwards. Surviving are his sons, Charles Lewis Edwards of Valdese and Joseph Lee Edwards and wife Marilyn of Candler; brothers, Charles L. Edwards of Asheville and Rev. Frank H. Edwards of Charlotte; 3 granddaughters, Amy Chegash and husband Andy of Apex, Tina Edwards of Candler and Melissa Edwards of Chapel Hill and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
