Johnny Moss

Asheville – John Lee “Johnny” Moss, 87, of 141 Brickyard Road, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Yancey County, he retired from Buncombe County School System following 30 years of service and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Mr. Moss was the son of the late Vestol Floyd Moss and Nell Wilma Styles Moss. He was also preceded in death by his wife, June Rice Moss who died December 19, 1996; daughter, Sheila Diane Moss Garrison; sister, Lala Robinson and husband, the late Leonard Robinson; brother, James Moss and wife, the late Lucille Moss and brothers-in-law, Jackie Silver, Alton Ray and Vernon Waycaster. Surviving are his daughter, Catherine Lynn “Cathy” Moss of Alexander; son-in-law, Earl Garrison; sisters, Linda Silver, Mary Miller and husband, Hiram, Iva Jean Ray and Doris Waycaster; brothers, Harold Douglas Moss and wife, Alice and Danny Wayne Moss; sister-in-law, Betty Baldwin and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Tim Warren officiating.
