Asheville – Johnny Deard Radcliff, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Murray and Dessie Duyck Radcliff. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Billie Watts Radcliff; 2nd wife, Betty Johnson Radcliff; sisters: Nellie Radcliff, Barbara Radcliff Grooms, and Louise Radcliff King; and brothers: Charles Radcliff, William Radcliff, and Murray Lamar Radcliff. Mr. Radcliff was a U.S. Army Veteran having served as a Corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church. He retired from Ingles on Merrimon Avenue in 1991 and previously worked for Colonial Grocery Store. Surviving are his daughter, Wanda Radcliff; brother, James Radcliff; and beloved cat, Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Grassy Branch Baptist Church, 499 Riceville Rd, Asheville, NC 28805. Burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park with Military Honors performed by the N.C. National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Wednesday at the church prior to services.
