ASHEVILLE - JOHN WILLIAM "JOHNNY" STAFFON, SR., 60, OF 58 FULTON ST., DIED SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2000 AT HIS RESIDENCE. HE WAS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY AND THE SON OF THE LATE HOWRD NICHOLAS AND MYRTLE WEST STAFFON. MR. STAFFON WAS EMPLOYED BY SKYLAND OLDSMOBILE FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS AND WAS FORMERLY EMPLOYED WITH MATTHEWS FORD AND WAS A MEMBER OF MERRIMON AVE. BAPTIST CHURCH. SURVIVING ARE HIS COMPANION, NELL BUCKNER MITCHELL OF THE HOME; DAUGHTER, BRENDA JUNE STAFFON OF CANDLER; SON, JOHN WILLIAM "JOHNNY" STAFFON, JR. OF ASHEVILLE; SISTERS, STELLA MOORE OF CLIMAX, NC, VERA STAFFON AND JUDY HOWELL BOTH OF VIRGINIA; GRANDCHILDREN, KENNY ROBERTS, RENEE ROBERTS, LINDSEY ROBERTS, AND MATTHEW STAFFON AND 2 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11 AM WEDNESDAY IN THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REV'S J.B. JOHNSON AND BILL BIGHAM OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN GREEN HILLS CEMETERY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS FROM 7 TO 9 PM TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
