John T. Jordan Jr.

Asheville - John Thomas Jordan, Jr., 86, of 6 Botany Court. died Saturday - December 1, 2007 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A native of Mecklenburg County, he had resided in Asheville since the early 60s. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church where he drove the church bus. He was the son of the late John Thomas Jordan, Sr. and Ethel Smith Jordan. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Allen Jordan of the home; step daughter, Jean Liner of Easley, SC; step son, John Allen and wife Gail of Gulf Breeze, FL; sister, Elizabeth Sweeny of Maryland; 5 step grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren and several nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Russell and Jim Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
