John Roger Boone

Asheville – John Roger Boone, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital of Memphis, TN. A native of Marion, NC he was a son of the late Frank Edward Boone and Tuie Roxanna Bradburn Boone. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Boone; brothers: Frank Boone, Jr, and Phillip Boone; sisters: Ruth Boone Brown, and Judy Boone Curry; and ex-wife, Dawn Embler Boone. John Roger Boone served in the U.S. Army and was a sharp business man, owning several businesses throughout his life. He loved automobiles and everything about them. He was also proud to have the famous Daniel Boone as an ancestor. John’s love for his children and grandchildren was his greatest joy in life. Surviving are his daughter, Sonya Boone; son, Gavin Prentice Boone and wife Jessica; grandchildren: Amber Nicole Boone, Brittany Paige Boone, Kyle Christopher Boone, Libby Marie Boone, Joel Gabriel Boone, and Gavin Keegan Boone; great-grandchildren: Aiden Kirchberg, Evan Kirchberg, Charlie Kirchberg, Lillian Stephan, and Annabelle Stephan; sisters: Virginia Boone White, and Wilma Boone Davis; brothers: Rev. Charles Boone, and Daniel Boone; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, July 17, 2021, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Military Honors by the NC National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:30 till 2:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
