John P. Woody

Brevard - John Paul Woody, born November 25, 1939 in the Spring Creek section of Madison County, passed away unexpectedly Saturday April 18, 2009. John was a 1957 graduate of Spring Creek High School and he retired from Ecusta Olin Corp. in 2000 after 40 years of service. Farming and raising cattle were his favorite pastimes. He was a son of the late Roy and Bertha Woody and was also preceded in death by brothers, Billy, Woodrow, Burder, Hard and Junior and sisters, Helen Caldwell and Kathleen DeWeese. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Patricia F. Woody; daughter, Jackie W. Volrath and husband Billy of Marietta, GA; brother, Jack Woody of Asheville; sisters, Pauline Brown of Asheville, Betty Jane Feather of Bedford, IN, Bonnie Sue Vires of Maineville, OH and Martha Ann Kiser of Normal, IL; mother-in-law, Lola L. Ferguson of Spring Creek; close family friend, Dorothy Banks; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews and his dog and companion Blackjack. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Vance Davis officiating. Burial will be in the New Flats of Spring Creek Cemetery in Madison County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
