John Logan Young

November 27, 1929 — June 8, 2022

John Logan Young (November 27,1929 to June 8, 2022) John Young was ideally suited to Asheville, NC. He lived in awe of the surrounding mountains, streams, and wildlife. John’s love of nature was integral to his childhood, adult life, and faith. Born in 1929 in Woodfin. John graduated from Baylor University in 1954 with a degree in religion. After college, he served in the US Air Force, then began his career as a safety engineer in Florida. As owner of The Hunting and Fishing Shop near Biltmore Forest, John discovered another way to share the joy of the outdoors. In 1959, John married Elizabeth Cordle at the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville. Their daughter Emily was born in 1963, son John William (Bill) in 1964 and daughter Holly in 1966. The couple was blessed with two granddaughters, Sarah (2001) and Mary Kate (2004). John is preceded in death by his parents, T. Plato and Gwendolyn Young, His sister Barbara (Babs) Young, His brothers Tom and Jim Young, and his brother-in-law William (Bill) Eagan. John’s surviving, loving family includes his wife Elizabeth (Beth), sister Marjorie Eagan, Emily and Mark Foley, Bill and Maria Delgado (Malu) Young, Holly and Will Frisbie, Sarah Frisbie, Mary Kate Frisbie, Joan Young (sister-in-law), Dee Young (sister-in-law) and many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.
