John Conley Trantham

January 6, 1915 — February 10, 2002

Asheville - John Conley Trantham, 87, of 200 Tunnel Road, Asheville Terrace Apartments died Sunday, February 10, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a retired independent car dealer and a member of Laurel Pines Baptist Church. Mr. Trantham was the son of the late John R. Trantham and Lillie Lee Trantham and was also preceded in death by sisters, Zelda Chrisawn, Atlas Swann, Elizabeth Sweet and Cleo Talent; brothers, Brantley Trantham, Ennis Trantham and Lee Trantham. Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Joe Brantley Trantham and Evet Radford Trantham both of Fairview; granddaughter, Kathy Stroupe of Asheville and grandsons, Terry Wilson of Fairview, Noah Craig and Michael Craig both of Asheville. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cane Creek Cemetery in Fairview with the Rev. Norris Wright officiating. Family will receive friends 7 - 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813.
