John Charles Grant

May 24, 1919 — August 9, 2004

Asheville - John Charles Grant, 85, died Monday August 9, 2004 at his home after a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from Southern Railway and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a 32nd Degree Lifetime Member of Nichols - West Asheville Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #650. He was the son of the late John H. and Flonnie Powers Grant and the husband of the late Irene Adams Grant who died December 12, 1999. Surviving are his daughters, Cheryl G. Candler and husband David of Asheville and Karen G. Thompson and husband Charles of Candler; son, Mike R. Grant and wife Marie of Asheville; grandchildren, John Candler and wife Lori, Dustin Grant, Ginger and Bonnie Thompson all of Asheville and great grandson, Grayden. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Collins officiating. Masonic Graveside rites will be provided by members of Nichols, West Asheville Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. #650. The family will receive friends following services at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old 19-23, Candler, NC. 28715.
