John Ben "J. B." Holt

Asheville - John Ben J. B. Holt, 74, of 20 Cedar Farm Road, died Saturday September 6, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1988 following 41 years of service with CP&L where at the time of retirement he was a Line Service Supervisor. He was a member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church and an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a son of the late Thomas W. and Elsie Reed Holt. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Holt. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Arrowood Holt of the home; sons, John B. Holt, Jr. and wife, Patsy of Winsted, CT and Mark A. Holt and wife, Becky of Asheville; daughter, Joy Lynn Buckner of Waynesville; grandchildren, Kerry West of Asheville, Jennifer Holt of Greensboro, Ryan Dodd of Asheville, Mackenzie Buckner of Waynesville and great granddaughter, Krystin West of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at Gashes Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. John Thomas and Lester Crayton officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
