Joe Volrath, Jr.

Asheville – Joe Norton Volrath, Jr., 90, of 1 Panorama Drive, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2022. A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired from Akzona, Inc. where he served as an Accountant following 40 years of service. He later worked for the Asheville-Citizen Times for 9 years where he served as a Finance Manager. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was US Army Korean War veteran. He was the son of the late Joe Norton Volrath and Marie Young Volrath and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Lynn Volrath and son, Mark Alan Volrath. Surviving are his wife, Jean Reed Volrath whom he married May 30, 1959 of the home, and brother, Lewis Ray Volrath of Knoxville, TN. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Rev. Cam McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 AM Wednesday prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to: Mt.
