Joe Shook

Candler Joe Dimaggio Shook, 73, of Hookers Gap Road, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his residence. A native of Madison County, Mr. Shook had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He worked as a General Contractor, and loved baseball and fishing. Mr. Shook was the son of the late William Wade and Oda Belle Hunnicutt Shook. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Goldman. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Kuykendall Graham; children: Kim Hill and husband Todd of Fairview and Joe D. Shook of Hendersonville; grandchildren: Brittany Hill of Greensboro and Logan Shook of Hendersonville; sisters: Ellezene Robinson, Rosa Lee Courtney, Eloise Robinson, Henrietta Shook, and Martha Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mars Hill, with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
