Joe Mcghee

Asheville Joseph Albert Joe McGhee, 71, of 22 Chiles Avenue passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Joe was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was formerly employed with Goodwill. He was a son of the late Columbus Lum McGhee and Altha Penley McGhee and was also preceded in death by brothers, Arthur I. McGhee and Frank McGhee; and sister, Mildred Snelson. Surviving are his sisters, Helen Hensley of Asheville, Margaret Collins of Marshall, Edith Barrett, Faye Davis and Altha Langford all of Asheville; brothers, Vernon McGhee and Robert McGhee both of Asheville; several nieces and nephews and several special brothers and a sister at the Chiles Avenue Group Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Altha Langford, 16 Montana Avenue, West Asheville.
