Joe Mccarson

Asheville Joseph Ralph Joe McCarson, 73, of 99 Frances Street passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the owner of McCarsons Appliances for over 40 years and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. McCarson was the son of the late Rev. Lon McCarson and Mary Ann Honeycutt McCarson. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Holmes, Jackie, Danny, Aaron and Nathan McCarson and one sister, Mildred McCarson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille McCarson, to whom he had been married to for 42 years, of the home; sisters, Edna Griffith of Asheville, Sarah McCarson of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Samuel McCarson of Chicago, IL, Paul McCarson of Detroit, MI; stepsons, Larry Lands of Asheville, Garry Lands of Leicester and Terry Lands of Asheville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Sprouse officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
