Joanna Kay "Jinny" Hawkinson

Greensboro - Joanna Kay Jinny Hawkinson, 23, formerly of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 19, 2001, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jinny was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Asheville, where she had been involved in small group discipleship. She moved to Winston-Salem in 1998 and was a faithful employee of J. Sterlings Cafe. Galatians 4: 4-5 --- God sent forth His Son--- that we might receive the adoption as sons. Jinny was born December 30, 1977 in Seoul, Korea and was adopted into the Hawkinson family in February of 1986. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Reginald Jostrand Reggie Hawkinson, and paternal grandparents, LeRoy and Olive Hawkinson. Jinny is survived by her mother, Carole Boyer Hawkinson of Asheville; brothers, Frederick Neil Hawkinson of Greenville, SC, Paul Nathan Hawkinson and his wife, Rebecca, of Black Mountain and James David Jamie Hawkinson of the home; sisters, Marissa Kay Hawkinson, Erin Kay Hawkinson and Brenda Hawkinson Watt and her husband, Johnny and their children, Kami, Cory and Collin all of the home; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Virginia Boyer of Asheville; uncles, Ronald Hawkinson and wife Judy of Williams Bay, WI and Jerry Boyer of Rockford, IL; boy friend, John Cummings of Fort Bragg and close friend, Jennifer Bornac of Greensboro. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be home with the Lord. A celebration of Jinnys life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday September 23, 2001 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Jeff Hutchinson, Bill Laxton and Donnie Williams officiating. a reception will follow the service at the church with child care provided.
