Joangelia "Jo" Moody

Asheville – JoAngelia “Jo” Pierce Moody, 59, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Born in Abilene, TX, she grew up in Miami, FL until moving to Western North Carolina during her senior year of high school where she graduated from Brevard High School in 1982. She was a daughter of the late Bartram J. Pierce, Jr. and Jeanenne McMillan Pierce. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Walter Ervin Moody.

Jo was currently working for 1-800-Radiator. She enjoyed an active life and liked playing softball and bowling on a bowing league. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Walter Russell Moody; step-sons: Justin Grail Moody of Asheville, and James Walter Moody of Port Orange, FL; step-grandson, Colby Michael Moody; step-father, Joe Featherston of Aiken, SC; mother-in-law, Nina Moody; brother-in-law, Mike Moody and wife Virginia; beloved dog, Chance; and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 till 2 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
